Allegiant Airlines Cancels More Flights

Passengers flying Allegiant Air out of St Pete-Clearwater Airport are still waiting for flights. The airline was waiting for delivery of new planes and thought they would be here this week. But now it might be next week or longer before the planes arrive.

 

 

It’s a bad year for jellyfish stings. At least 1,200 stings have been reported between this past Saturday and Wednesday in Volusia County. Officials say it’s definitely well above average but think it’s just more people at the beach and not more jellyfish.

 

 

Walmart, Trader Joe’s Whole Foods, Sprouts, Walgreens, Costco, recalled pre-cut melons and fruit salads in the Bay area. Salmonella concerns triggered the recall from the CDC. That recall is in other states as well including Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio.

 

 

Hernando County Superintendent Dr. Lori Romano fired all 47 of the teachers at the low-performing Morton Elementary in April. Now it’s Dr. Romano who has been fired. School Board members will present her formal letter of termination on June 26th, and Romano will have 10 days to contest it.

 

 

The Hillsborough County Metropolitan Organization’s Transportation Committee wants to make the commute shorter and safer. They approved a five-year funding plan for improvements in the wake of the deadly crash on Bayshore Blvd in Tampa. Other roads on the list include Dale Mary and Kennedy.

Tampa’s Historic Streetcar will be a free ride for the next three years. FDOT made the announcement Tuesday that a Transit Service Grant is making it possible starting in August for the almost 3-mile ride around downtown Tampa. The streetcars will make the trek more often and with extended hours.
