Tracking Skimmers Across Tampa Bay

It’s been a very busy year for Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. They’ve already found 575 skimmers on gas station pumps with most of them in the Bay area in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. We have a list of where those skimmers have been found and what to look out for when buying gas.

 

 

 

Mega Millions $522M jackpot: Winning ticket sold in California

There was one winning ticket sold in this week’s Mega Millions drawing but not to anyone in Florida. That ticket was sold in San Jose, California with as estimated $522 million dollars.

 

 

 

 

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s office is looking for new recruits and have loosened some qualifications as a result. Sheriff Chad Chronister made the announcement and said applicants now only need a high school diploma and at least three years of active duty military experience to apply and the Sheriff’s department police on tattoos has also been changed. Mark this one down – Florida’s back to school sales tax holiday is set for August 3rd – 5th. We have the complete list of what is and what not’s on the list this year. There are limits of $60 or less for items like clothing, shoes and other supplies. An adopt-a-teacher program a Tampa woman has created has gone viral. Ellie Baggett wants to help teachers who actually buy their own classroom supplies. The idea is to adopt a teacher and spend around $30 for supplies for them. The campaign in on Facebook if you’d like to help.

 

 

Giraffe watch: April is expecting new baby
April the giraffe is pregnant again. The new calf is expected sometime this spring at Animal Adventure Park in New York. There will be a live stream of the expectant Mom. Last year’s birth by April of her fourth calf, Tajiri was watched live by millions.
