Ground Beef Recall From Publix

Publix is recalling close to 30 ground beef products over fears of bacterial contamination. Almost 20 people have been sickened in Florida since early July.

This may change what you put on the grill this weekend, Publix has issued a voluntary recall of ground beef due to possible E. Coli contamination. It’s a substantial list of specific products so please take a look here and clean out that fridge and freezer.



Red tide is on the rise in Pinellas County. The most recent report from the FWC has a large concentration some ten miles offshore of Pinellas, but south of the Bay area levels are decreasing.  But yet another event canceled thanks to the impact of red tide. The Sarasota Sailing Club’s 72-year traditional Labor Day Regatta won’t happen this year and that’s a first.



The Bucs lost their final preseason game to the Jacksonville Jaguars at Raymond James Stadium last night by a score of 25-10. The regular season kicks off Sunday, September 9th in New Orleans against the Saints. The first home game is Sunday, September 16th against the Philadelphia Eagles.



Two pygmy whales were found beached and in distress on Sand Key Thursday. Crews from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Clearwater Fire and Rescue worked together to rescue the two who were taken to Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota for treatment.


There hasn’t been a single case of measles reported in Pinellas County in 20 years. Now seven have been reported, all from unvaccinated individuals. The Pinellas County Department of Health said those seven are no longer contagious but do not know if anyone else has contracted measles from them.
